LOL. Rankin GE 80!
I had a SMNCIS post in last week who was born after I joined. I feel so old! Makes me sorry now that I used to pull the P*%$ out of my PO's and Chief's about being old ![]() And for Livi, great to hear that you're enjoying it so far. Just don't let the clowns at seamanship school pull the wool over your eyes by getting you to go to the Bosuns Store for a "Long Weight" or detail you off to get a working party together to collect a "10 Tonne Shackle"....

No still got another week to go of seamanship after this week then we head to Canberra for a week then supposedly find out our postings after that... But with how helpful the dental/medical staff are here about fitting in appointments and actually doing their jobs... Can't guarantee I'll be posting out in two-three weeks!!

When I was at Cerberus we got given an inoculation incorrectly. I still have the scar!

Yeah I got stabbed at my last set of inoculations... It was painful!! Haha! The doctors at Cerberus are pretty shocking though... My friend has been in 3 or 4 times about her feet and they've only just decided to get it x-rayed. Had divisions today... Told today wasn't as bad as when the governor general came to Cerberus... But it was still boring!!

Definately one of my least fave things about the Navy, divisions, standing around waiting for a a VIP to inspect the guard and maybe chat to one or two people.

Yep. But this divisions was just so the new CO could see what he had under his command... And so we missed out on instruction... And now have to miss out on compulsory fun and PT next week to make up for it. Yay for command! And I failed to mention in my last post that I did the navy thing yesterday and got a tattoo... God save me when mum finds out!!

Plus it's a good excuse to wear your ceremonial rig and display your gongs (if you have 'em).

I am looking forward to wearing my white ceries for the first time on anzac day.
I'm not sure where we are going to get medals from anymore though. No more medals for going to the gulf. |

I'm sick or getting them prepared... I've worn black and white cerries bout 5 times in the last 6 weeks... Dry cleaning costs are going to send me broke!! Thanks god for being able to claim it back on tax!!

You know you wont be able to claim the entire costs of the dry cleaning back. Maybe a few dollars here and there. I don't think I have dry cleaned my ceremonials since I was in Cerberus in 2001. Just iron them on a low heat with plenty of steam. Takes 10 mins and costs nothing.

This is not true. The reason for this inaccurate information is that the mission for the Major fleet Unit sent up the Middle Eastern Area of Operation (MEAO) in support of Operation Slipper has changed. They no longer spend all their time in the Arabian gulf. Often heading to the Gulf of Aden to conduct Anti-piracy Operations of the coast of Somalia. So in saying this if the ship is in the MEAO for required time personnel will receive the AASM and any additional medals attached to Op Slipper. Go to http://www.defence.gov.au/op/afghani.../factsheet.htm it will give you information on Op Slipper and then head to http://www.defence.gov.au/medals/ to research the medals and qualifying periods attached to Op Slipper.

Well that sucks... And if I could keep my cerries clean then I would just iron them... However I have this unfortunate habit of getting them dirty all the time! And we did divisions out on the oval... After it had been pouring rain all night. Lots of mud and white cerries don't mix well apparently... So it'll be another trip to the dry cleaner!

I always got mine dry cleaned, can't be bothered with the hassle of ironing them, it dosen't cost much and they always look good.
